FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Where do I park?
Parking will only be available at the Carlisle Visitor Center; carpooling is encouraged. There WILL NOT be any parking available at the Duck Pond Picnic Area like in previous years. As always, these outdoor programs are weather dependent. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for day-of closures and information.
**PLEASE NOTE** Parking gates close at 9:00 pm, and the admissions booth closes at 9:15 pm.
How spooky is the trail at 7 p.m.?
While the trail does turn spooky at 7 p.m., we still maintain a family-oriented atmosphere. Our trail stays away from blood, guts, and gore, but we have plenty of spooks and startles to keep you on your toes! If a member of your group wishes to experience the trail in the evening but is apprehensive about the scare level, he or she can stay on the trail and not enter the multiple haunted walk-through attractions.
How long is the Haunted Trail?
The Haunted Trail is about ½ mile from beginning to end.
Will the building be open?
No. The Carlisle Visitor Center will be closed to the public and is open only for the Friends of Metro Parks volunteers and Lorain County Metro Park staff who work the program.
Where are the restrooms?
Portable toilets will be available off the parking lot near the building.
Is there a cost?
Entrance into the Halloween Fair costs $5 per person. Children 3 and under are free!
How long does the event last?
Halloween Fair 2024 will be held on October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26 from 4:30-9:30 p.m. each night. The parking gates close at 9:00 pm every night.
There will be a Sensory-Friendly/All-Abilities version of the event on Thursday, October 10 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Lights and sounds will be limited to reduce the stimulus of the event. Trams will be available on the haunted trail on a first-come, first-served basis for mobility needs. All-Abilities Night packs in all of the same event fun, including the family-friendly haunted trail, Little Green Choo rides, food trucks, and games. The number of tickets sold will be reduced to allow for shorter, more accommodating wait times. Both the train and tram can accommodate wheelchairs. Service animals are welcome.
Is there food available?
There will be a number of concession/food vendors and a booth manned by Friends of Metro Parks selling hot chocolate, popcorn, donuts, and cider. Some food vendors are cash only.
What other activities are there to do at Halloween Fair other than walking the trail?
Aside from walking the trail, the most popular activity is riding the Little Green Choo or the Pumpkin Express Tram along an additional decorated trail (Children’s Nature Discovery Trail). A variety of food vendors will be available, as well as low-cost children’s carnival games sponsored by our volunteer organization, Friends of the Metro Parks. Enjoy face painters, balloon artists, and dance party music until 9:30 pm.
How many times can I go down the trail?
Visitors can go down the trail as often as they want until 9:30 p.m. (the last trail group will leave for the trail no later than 9:30 p.m.). Visitors will have to wait in the queue line each time they wish to walk down the trail.
When is the latest I should be in line to walk down the trail or ride the Little Green Choo?
For the haunted trail, the last group will depart from the top of the hill no later than 9:30 p.m., if not beforehand. The Little Green Choo and Pumpkin Express Tram ride lines close at 9:00 pm.
